Shortly after graduating from George Mason University, and before I was hired at Bethesda Softworks, I took an interest in Scrum Software Development. Scrum by definition is is an iterative and incremental agile software development framework for managing product development. As an aspiring producer and project manger, I thought that learning this methodology would help facilitate learning how to be an effective team leader.
I began studying the materials on my own, with hopes on becoming certified in Scrum as a learning tool. Towards the end of April 2016, I enrolled in the Scrum Master Certification Course taught by David Bulkin of Scrum Alliance. We discussed the benefits of using Scrum workflow in the workplace, the Scrum Master’s role in a Scrum Team, and how to best perform as a servant leader for your team.
At the end of the course I took and passed my Scrum Master Certification. My Scrum Alliance certification profile can be found here.
I hope to continue learning Scrum, as agile software development appears to be a powerful tool for software development teams. I plan to study the Product Owner role and gather a second certification.
